This is the story of God, some very noisy animals in a very ordinary stable in a little place called Bethlehem, and a very extraordinary baby whose name was Jesus. Children will love the repetitive nature of the story and the noises made by the animals on that first Christmas night.

Jan Godfrey, Paula Doherty

Jan Godfrey is an experienced writer for children under seven, with many published books to her name. A former schoolteacher, she is now retired. She is married to a Church of England clergyman, has four grown-up children and many grandchildren. Paula Doherty studied Illustration and Graphic Design at Chelsea School of Art. She has specialised in children's illustrated books for 15 years using a mixture of paint, collage and, more recently, Photoshop. She lives in Reigate in Surrey with her son, a dog and a cat. She likes to travel to new places, armed with a sketchbook, and to potter in the garden, take long walks with the dog, sew and make elaborate hand-cut paper cuts.

Sally Fraser, parent: This fun nativity story is for toddlers and pre-school children. The story's repetitive nature encourages children to join in and make the animal noises. This is a winning formula. Be prepared to read this story over and over again. Church Times, 29 November 2013
