On 25th December, Pope Benedict XVI issued his first encyclical letter entitled "Deus Caritas Est - God is Love". In this letter, the new Pope reflects upon the concepts of possessive and unconditional love and their relationship with the teachings of Jesus. "Catholic Spirituality in Focus" draws strong influence from this encyclical letter to further examine the role of love in all its forms in the Christian faith. It carefully explores the concepts of God's love, God's love incarnate in Jesus, His love demonstrated by Christ's death and resurrection, and our own human response to love for both God and one another. It comes to a conclusion by showing that love is the very heart of Christian spirituality.
